People Relations Specialist – TSG Corporate – Hybrid (Raleigh, NC) 

The People Relations Specialist manages and improves the relationship between the organization and its workers to maintain a fair, safe, and productive workplace. The role is the organization's go-to resource for consultant relations and all leave, accommodation, and military leave matters. The role serves as the point of contact for workplace concerns, processes leaves and accommodation requests from intake through resolution and return to work, and escalates complex or high-risk cases to the Sr. Manager, People Operations & Compliance. 

The specialist also partners with Payroll so pay and benefits stay accurate and compliant while employees are on leave. The role supports all employee types, including full-time, part-time, temporary, and seasonal staff. 

This is a hybrid role, requiring one in-office day per week at our Raleigh office

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Manage consultant relations, serving as the point of contact for workplace concerns, policy questions, and conduct matters, and coordinating with leaders, Account Managers, Service Delivery, and client HR as appropriate. 
  • Partner with Legal on escalated matters, including cases with litigation risk, potential retaliation claims, or agency complaints. 
  • Track all open cases in accordance with internal processes and the law. 
  • Maintain and preserve personnel file documentation in accordance with applicable record retention laws. 
  • Process all internal leaves in accordance with company policy and applicable law (FMLA, state leave laws, short- and long-term disability, paid parental leave, company-sponsored leaves, etc.). 
  • Process all consultant leaves in accordance with applicable state paid family leave (PFL) laws, company policy, and other applicable leave requirements. 
  • Identify complex or high-risk leave cases (intermittent leave misuse concerns, overlapping leaves, exhausted entitlements, etc.) and escalate them to the Sr. Manager, People Operations & Compliance. 
  • Intake and manage all reasonable accommodation requests through the interactive process (ADA, Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, religious accommodations, etc.), from review through decision and follow-up. 
  • Prepare and verify payroll changes tied to leave status (unpaid leave, reduced schedules, disability offsets, return-to-work reinstatement, etc.) to ensure accurate pay and compliance. 
  • Administer military leave under USERRA and applicable state law for all employee types (full-time, part-time, temporary, seasonal, etc.), including reemployment rights and benefit continuation. 
  • Identify workplace trends and training opportunities. 

Key Qualifications:  
  • At least 2 years of HR experience, with exposure to employee relations, leave administration, and workplace accommodations. 
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, PFL, USERRA, and applicable state leave laws.  
  • Strong organizational and case management skills, with the ability to manage multiple employee matters, maintain accurate documentation, and protect confidential information.  
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and take on additional responsibilities as needed. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with employees, managers, Legal, Payroll, and other internal and external stakeholders.
