Technical Consulting Engineer

Location: Remote
Duration: 12+ months
Shift: Daytime (8-hour shifts between 8 AM – 8 PM)

Overview:

We are seeking Technical Consulting Engineers (TCEs) to provide high-level, reactive troubleshooting for one of the largest U.S. public sector customers. This role is entirely focused on escalation-level troubleshooting—not configuration, implementation, or design. Candidates must be the final escalation point for critical network issues, working in environments they have never previously seen.

As a TCE, you will be responsible for isolating and resolving complex technical issues, investigating network failures, and troubleshooting mission-critical networking infrastructure. You will be the go-to expert for a specific technology stack and must have a firefighter mentality—reactively solving urgent issues with no prior knowledge of the environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the highest level of technical escalation—if an issue cannot be resolved, there is no further escalation beyond this role.
  • 100% troubleshooting—no configuration, implementation, or deployment responsibilities.
  • Receive one case per day, close one case per day, and manage a backlog of 15-20 cases of varying complexity.
  • Engage directly with customers via phone, WebEx, chat, and email to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Utilize physical and remote lab environments to simulate and test potential solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and escalate insights to engineering groups when needed.
  • Use deep networking expertise to isolate root causes across multiple systems, troubleshooting network flows, misconfigurations, and critical failures.

Must-Have Skills:

Candidates must have deep expertise in Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI):

  • Multi-pod/multi-site ACI expertise
  • Daily tools: Wireshark, packet captures, packet tracer, debugs/log analysis, Putty/SecureCRT
  • Tier 3 Escalation Experience – Must have prior experience in high-level troubleshooting and white-glove technical support.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset – Must be able to reactively diagnose and solve issues without prior knowledge of the environment.
  • Sole U.S. Citizenship Required – This position supports U.S. Public Sector clients.

Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Case Management: Accept and resolve one complex case per day, managing a 15-20 case backlog.
  • Customer Interaction: Troubleshoot via phone, WebEx, chat, and email.
  • Problem Isolation: Identify root causes across complex network environments.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work alongside internal support and engineering teams.
  • Lab Testing: Utilize remote and physical labs for troubleshooting.

This role is ideal for curious problem-solvers who thrive in a high-stakes troubleshooting environment. If you are an expert in ACI, have escalation-level troubleshooting experience, and are comfortable working in a 100% reactive support role, we encourage you to apply!
