The Select Group is seeking a Construction Safety Facilitator to support a Fortune 5 hyperscaler and technology Global EHS team at an active data center construction site in Arizona.
This is a site-dedicated, hands-on role focused on daily field safety oversight, EHS compliance, contractor safety, and incident reporting throughout the construction lifecycle. The facilitator will serve as the clients onsite EHS resource, partnering with General Contractors (GCs) and developer safety teams to identify risks, verify compliance with EHS standards, and monitor corrective actions through resolution.
Important: This is an oversight and compliance role, not a direct execution or project management position. The GC's EHS team retains ownership of permits, safety approvals, and corrective action implementation. The facilitator provides guidance, tracks progress, and escalates outstanding concerns.
Must-Have Skills:
- 8+ years of EHS experience in construction, infrastructure, utilities, or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety, incident investigations, regulatory compliance, and environmental controls.
- OSHA 10 certification required.
- Experience with construction site operations, contractor safety oversight, and EHS compliance.
- Ability to analyze EHS metrics, identify trends, and track corrective actions.
- Familiarity with Enablon or similar EHS/incident management platforms.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in EHS, construction, engineering, or a related field preferred.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Data center or large-scale infrastructure construction experience.
- Experience supporting global or multi-regional EHS programs.
- Experience coaching or mentoring safety teams.
- Exposure to sustainability, environmental compliance, and construction-to-operations transitions.
- Familiarity with EHS platforms and reporting tools such as Enablon, Intelex, SpheraCloud, VelocityEHS, Cority, SAP EHS.
Preferred Education & Certifications:
- Relevant safety certifications: OSHA 10, OSHA 30, OSHA 510, OSHA 500, CHST, CSP, ASP, SMS, OHST, STSC, ISO 14001, NFPA.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in EHS, construction, engineering, or a related discipline.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated onsite EHS support at an active data center construction site, ensuring compliance with client safety standards and requirements.
- Conduct daily site walks, field inspections, and risk-based safety observations to identify hazards and compliance gaps.
- Observe and coach on high-risk activities, including heavy lifts, electrical work, excavation, and contractor operations.
- Verify permit processes and safe work practices, identifying gaps and coordinating follow-up with GC EHS teams.
- Monitor contractor safety performance and track corrective actions through completion, escalating overdue or high-risk items.
- Support incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analysis, documentation, and corrective action tracking within established timelines.
- Maintain accurate incident, near-miss, environmental, and safety observation data using EHS platforms such as IRIS (Enablon), Greenlens, and Boots on the Ground (BOTG).
- Conduct EHS risk assessments and monitor construction hazards, regulatory compliance, chemical management, and environmental controls.
- Complete monthly workplace safety assessments and submit weekly safety observations, maintaining accurate reporting and dashboards.
- Partner with GC and developer EHS teams, site leadership, contractors, and client stakeholders to communicate risks, compliance gaps, and site readiness.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings, OAC meetings, and regular EHS coordination meetings.
- Provide regular updates on incident status, risk exposure, compliance progress, and outstanding corrective actions.
- Support monthly and quarterly reporting, data validation, and audit readiness.
- Help ensure EHS requirements are maintained throughout the construction lifecycle, from site preparation and civil work through core and shell and operational readiness.
