Network Test Technician

The Select Group is hiring a Network Test Technician for out Telecommunications Client in Denver, CO. This role will sit fully onsite, 5 days a week, in Denver. If you come from a background working in a lab environment, apply today! 

Reason for need:

  • Looking for someone to come in and own/assist with the network cabling and installation and its labeling/layering within the CTEC 1 lab environment
  • Originating from the field/network/cable/installation technician background who can transition into a lab network engineer doing testing & validation
Project Details:
  • Layer 1 Installing/layering/labeling cable inside the lab facility and completing network diagrams + documentation within SharePoint for network configurations and to set up tests in order to better understand what connects to the other
  • Looking for somebody with the desire to move into a network engineering type of role eventually doing coax testing certifications of their OSP equipment
Must Have Skills:
  1. 3+ years of Network Installation experience
    • Open to Field and/or Lab Installation experience
    • Layer 1 Cabling experience
    • Equipment testing "handheld experience"
  2. Cable Layering and Labeling experience
    1. Proficient knowledge of Coax, Fiber, and/or ethernet cable splicing
  3. Proficient knowledge of related industry specifications and standards SCTE, ANSI, IEEE, etc.
  4. Proficient knowledge of basic CATV devices and outside plant
  5. Experience with S-parameters, BER, or MER requirements
    • S-Parameters = Basic fundamentals for any RF testing
    • MER = Modulation Error Rate = those with field experience working should know MER or BER = # of errors they're picking up with meters
  6. Proficient knowledge with Amplifiers and/or line extenders
  7. Network Diagram experience in SharePoint for documentation
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Knowledge of ISP (Inside Plant) is a bonus
  • Proficient knowledge of RF test equipment (Keysight or Rhode & Schwartz)
  • Proficient knowledge of RF test equipment, spectrum analyzers, or vector network analyzers
  • Proficient knowledge in CATV outside plant network design or HFC network architecture
  • Experience with egress leakage, RFI and channel noise desired
Day to day responsibilities:
  • Layer 1 Installing/layering/labeling cable inside the lab facility and completing network diagrams + documentation within SharePoint for network configurations and to set up tests in order to better understand what connects to the other
  • Under general supervision, assists in the planning, forecasting, evaluation, and reports results of products submitted for qualification.
  • Responsible for development, enhancement, and implementation of test methods/processes.
  • Responsible for initiating, coordinating testing with other teams, tracking and completing documentation of assigned projects.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Participates in evaluation planning, design and engineering of lab enhancements.
  • Integrates communication industry architectures, topologies, hardware and software into complete network configurations.
  • Evaluates new products, makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Assists in the development and documentation of technical standards.
  • Implements approved methods of procedure.
  • Works on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding CATV planning, configuration and optimization.
  • Provides support across organizations.
  • Works on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead.
  • Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
  • Knows, understands and follows company policy.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
